It’s My Time was an impressive winner of his heat a fortnight ago and clocked the fastest time of the two heats, but the other heat winner Tranquil Magic has drawn inside.
Smith believes it will be a match race to find the top and is bullish with her and husband Brian’s chances.
“He’s boxed well and if he jumps he should go to the front, lead and win,” Smith said.
“He went really well (in the heat), we were very pleased with him, he’s recovered well, but the danger is the number two dog on the inside.
“He will probably match him for pace early but if (It’s My Time) gets a clear run he will go good.”
The greyhound has only missed the placing once in seven starts since joining the Smith kennel.
That was when fifth the straight track at Healesville two starts back, but Smith has been pleased with how he’s taken to his new home.
“He’s a beautiful dog to handle and Brian goes a good dog looking after him,” she said.
Smith is also confident with the chances of Mini Sticka, who has won two of her four starts, despite drawing the number five box.
“She’s boxed bad I think,” she said. “She just needs a clear run because of the five, there is no reason she’s can’t get a clear run from there but anything can happen.”
