To celebrate the look and feel of the Riverina town locals are hosting Lockhart Vintage Verandah Fest on Saturday, March 4.
The festival includes a historic truck show, vintage cars, beautiful open gardens, treasured antiques, unique shops, craft and produce stalls, tasty food and plenty of bargains at the town garage sales.
Now in its ninth year, the stars of the great road transport history will be on display at the National Historic Truck and Commercial Vehicle Show.
Held at Lockhart Showground, gates are open from 10:30am to 3:30pm for visitors, while evening entertainment is planned for exhibitors.
This year the show is featuring “Post War British Trucks”.
Prizes will include British truck driven the furthest to the show, best local farm truck, most versatile truck and the best British truck.
Many memories will come back when visitors view the special display of a collection of pre-1920 cream separators.
There will also be a display of pre-1910 motor vehicles. A rare treat.
Vintage and veteran cars will also be on display at the Truck Show.
Entry fee is $5 for adults and free for children.
Food and cold drinks are available on site. A shuttle bus will run every half an hour between the Showground and Lockhart Post Office to ensure visitors are able to easily access other events on the day.
The open gardens, a feature to the festival this year, offer a variety of garden types, from water wise to hardy perennials, roses ornamental flowering trees and a very beautiful cottage garden. Entry is a gold coin donation with maps of the gardens available in the Main Street on the day. Take the time to enjoy visiting these beautiful and inspiring gardens.
Get in the bidding spirit at the famous Tuckerbox Antique Auctions, all the way from Gundagai for the day. Viewing of the merchandise is from 9am, with the auction commencing at 11am. Held in the Lockhart Memorial Hall in the Main Street, the auction is right in the heart of the action. There are some wonderful collectibles from times past, including antique and vintage furniture, china, porcelain, crystal, jewelry, tools and signs.
In the town centre, the main street will be buzzing. The historic shops that line the street will be open, with many featuring special offers and discounts. Stalls at Markets Under the Verandahs will include craft, produce, antiques, bric a brac, plants and other delights.
