HOLBROOK DCA had a heartbreaking five-run loss to Temora in a thrilling O’Farrell Cup challenge at Nixon Park, Temora, on Sunday.

In a low scoring encounter the game ended with plenty of tension in front of a healthy hometown crowd in Temora.
It featured a rare O’Farrell Cup hat trick from Temora speedster David Tassel and a superb individual batting performance from Holbrook’s Andrew Mackinlay.
Temora who were sent into bat on a rain affected wicket from Saturday afternoon storms, battled hard to post 121.
The Holbrook bowling attack was outstanding and given great support from a brilliant fielding performance.
All three Holbrook debutants claimed wickets for Holbrook, with Cooper Walsh outstanding taking 3/11 off eight overs and leg spinner Ed Perryman 2/20 off eight.
Hamish Mackinlay took 1/26 and cousin AB Mackinlay 1/5.
Opening bowlers Chris Manns and Grant Forest were superb and set up the excellent effort from all players.
Forrest took 1/29 off his allotted 12 overs, while Manns who strained a side was his usual economical self-taking 2/10 off nine.
Peter Stimson top scored for Temora with 36 not out with good support from Kurt Robertson (29) including two huge sixes.
Holbrook’s reply started with the loss of openers Forrest (13) and Luke Richardson (3) to be 2/18 against a hostile attack.
An excellent recovery was executed by Andrew Mackinlay and William Heriot.
The pair added 52 before Heriot was unlucky to be adjudged LBW for 4.
This triggered a big collapse with wickets falling around Mackinlay as he passed his half century.
Tassell really put Holbrook under fire when he claimed his hat-trick with the score on 94.
Mackinlay was joined by father Robbie and the pair restored order with an 18-run partnership before the elder departed.
A brilliant catch by wicketkeeper Mark Stimson dismissed Andrew Mackinlay for a superb 76 that included seven fours and two sixes.
This left Holbrook needing eight runs with Manns and Walsh at the crease.
A mix up going for a second run found Walsh short of his ground.
This left Holbrook five runs short of victory in one of the most thrilling cup finished for some time.
Temora will hold the cup for the winter.
Tassell finished with 4/33, while Nick Grant 2/26, Peter Gerhard 2/24 and Kurt Robertson 1/31 all played there part in a stunning win.
