Henty trainer-driver Grant Forrest will line up the seven-year-old mare against a field of C1s in the Michael Rosler Electrical Pace (1755m).
Her last win, at Cobram in May, was against the pacers but it isn’t something you see every day.
Trotters are generally slower than their pacing rivals, but Forestspider gets a big class drop.
Coming off a last placed showing in the Group Three Cobram Trotters Cup last month, Forestspider blew the start to finish last.
However Forrest has been happy with her efforts since then.
“She is working pretty good but it is always hard with trotters against pacers no matter where you race but especially on a four furlong (800m) track as well,” Forrest said.
“She has drawn the back row in a short race but if they put a bit of speed on early she should hopefully be in the finish.”
Forestspider produced a brilliant finish to down the pacers for what was her last win, but Forest isn’t sure the tighter Wagga track will suit as well.
“Cobram, being a little bit spacious, you can get around the turns without losing too much ground,” he said.
With only one placing in five starts, Forrest said he didn’t have too many options to race the T8 mare.
He thought heading to Wagga would suit.
“There is no real races around for her at the moment,” Forrest said.
“I don’t really want to go to Melton unless she is fully going.
“She ended up going pretty good once she got down and trotting at Cobram last week.
“I thought instead of giving her another trial I might as well put her in the pacers race as she is only a C1.”
Forrest is then looking to head to the Wangaratta Trotters Cup later in the month and wants to give the mare a couple of good hit outs before then.
The Henty conditioner has one more horse entered on the seven-race card.
He will also line up Jilliby Alzira for the filly’s second start.
Coming off a down the track effort on debut at Junee in November, Jilliby Alzira has drawn barrier eight in the Riverina Crane Services Three Year Old Pace (1755m).
However Forrest isn’t expecting too much from the three-year-old filly.
“She is pretty easy to do anything with but she has drawn eight and there is a couple of better ones it in so I will just be looking for inside runs,” he said.
“It will be just a fitness test for her, but we will take some shortcuts and try to get home.”
