Using his iPhone he would access extremist material, often videos about suicide missions, accompanied by pictures of men with bullets in their heads and Islamic State flags.
Police also found a video on his phone that was filmed in the morgue of deceased 15-year-old Farhad Jabar, who murdered police accountant Curtis Cheng outside of NSW Police headquarters in October last year.
One of the videos that landed Ahmad Saiyer Naizmand in jail included an Arabic chant, encouraging men to "proceed to death".
"With bombers evoke the enemy make hearts bleed and destroy the wicked," the lyrics said.
"So go wear an explosive, rise up and blow up, and take pleasure in the destruction and in the outcome."
Details of the extremist material were revealed in court documents after Naizmand pleaded guilty last month to five counts of breaching a terrorism control order by watching extremist videos online.
Naizmand was subjected to a terrorism control order last year after he was convicted of using his brother's passport to travel to the Middle East in 2014 and his home was raided during Operation Appleby.
Another video Naizmand accessed was called "My brother, you are free," according to a statement of facts written by the NSW Police Joint Counter Terrorism Team.
This video contained a number of still images, one of which had an armed Islamic State member holding up a flag with the caption "raise up the flag once again".
One image was of a man holding a clenched fist with the caption, "I hear the voice of blood calling powerfully: fight fight".
"The imagery, audio and subtitles of this nasheed advocate terrorist attacks and is propaganda or promotional material associated with the activities of the proscribed terrorist organisation, the Islamic State," the facts state.
The interim control order Naizmand was subjected to was made in March 2015, after police alleged that the offender was a person who strongly supported the ideology and activities of Islamic State and who had strong links to suspected terrorist Omarjan Azari.
Naizmand is the brother-in-law of Azari, who allegedly planned to pick an "unbeliever" in Sydney and kill them in front of an Islamic State flag.
In deciding Naizmand should be subjected to a control order last year, Federal Circuit Court judge Rolf Driver said there was "sufficient information" that he had been communicating with a suspected terror cell and speaking in code with them in relation to sourcing firearms.
"Mr Naizmand and [The Naizmand Group] have a pattern of frequent association," he said.
"They are in frequent communication, often in relation to matters reflecting their shared extreme Islamist ideology. They continue to express support for the terrorist organisation, the Islamic State, or their desire to become a martyr, or to commit jihad."
As part of the control order placed on him, Naizmand was prevented from accessing electronic material depicting or describing executions, beheadings, suicide attacks, bombings, terrorist attacks, promotional material from terrorist groups or any activities by Islamic State.
Naizmand has been in prison since last February when he breached the control order and is expected to be sentenced in December.
