The members have been fundraising for a few years to raise enough funds to purchase the hospital a new bladder ultrasound worth $7,700.
The machine will mean that patients will no longer have to travel to Albury or Wagga Wagga to have access to the machine.
“It's a piece of machinery that's nice to have but isn’t essential. We wouldn’t get it easily without the funding from the hospital auxiliary group,” Henty Hospital’s Health Service manager Jeff Bedford said.
Members of the Henty branch presented the Henty Hospital with the ultrasound machine on Monday July 28 prior to their monthly meeting.
The United Hospital Auxiliary of New South Wales Henty Branch has two major fundraisers, the fish and chip night at the club in March and the birthday club.
The birthday club involves the branch members wishing the people who are on their birthday list a happy birthday who then make a donation to the branch.
They currently have 250 names on the list which keeps them busy most of the year.
There is paperwork from the Henty branch dating back to the 1930’s and current
president Pam Green has been in the position since 87.
“We’ve donated quite a lot over the years for patient comfort, we give all the patients a gift at christmas time,” Ms Green said.
“It will come in handy (the bladder ultrasound). It’s nice to get it.”
The branch will work on fundraising to buy the hospital a shower chair next and padding for the cot sides so they are more comfortable for patients who have to spend a lot of time in bed.
The shower chair is expected to cost a couple of thousand dollars.
