The bus was apart of the annual grant scheme.
Fernando Flores from the Yerong Creek Rural Fire Brigade assisted in putting together the successful grant application for the bus and was also present when it was presented to them.
The bus means that volunteers can be transported throughout the Riverina Zone for fire fighting, training and community activities.
The bus will be based in Wagga Wagga but is available for use by volunteers and staff throughout the Riverina Zone.
“It’s just great to have the new bus so we can concentrate on firefighting during major fire events and can have someone fresh drive us to and from the fire ground staging point,” Mr Flores said.
“This bus will also enable us to move volunteers to training exercises and other activities across the Riverina.”
RFSA Division Chairperson Ian Stewart believes the vehicle will be invaluable to all brigade members.
“Members in the Riverina as it will reduce the time each individual has to drive, with the bus now available to transport volunteers during major incidents, for training purposes and it will also transport group officers and staff around the Zone,” Mr Stewart said.
