Daniel Lieschke, a 15 year-old student at St Paul’s College in Walla Walla was awarded Lockhart Shire Council’s (LSC) Sportsperson of the Year for 2012.
A member of the Rand Walbundrie Tigers Football/Netball Club Daniel has been the St Paul’s College Age Champion in Athletics and Cross Country in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. He represented St Paul’s College at the NSW Combined High School AFL Championships in 2011.
In 2011 Daniel represented Ovens and Murray Under 15 side for the AFL V Line Cup and NSW at the All Australian Football Championships.
Daniel’s awards to-date includes:
- Rand Walbundrie Tigers Football/Netball Club Most Improved in 2007 and 2009 and Most Consistent in 2010 and 2011
- Rand Cricket Junior Bowling 2008 and 2009 and Batting Award 2009 and 2011
- An Award at the Australian Football Championships in the game against ACT
In awarding Daniel the LSC Sportsperson of the Year for 2012 LSC General manager, Chris Gallagher read from Daniel’s nomination which said
“Daniel has shown maturity, dedication and commitment with his sporting achievements, setting goals and achieving them with hard work”.
