Holbrook Women’s Bowls president Joan Papworth welcomed nearly 90 lawn bowlers to the Holbrook tournament on Thursday.
Fine weather for this year’s carnival was a bonus for the bowlers as “last year’s tournament was a wash-out,” secretary June Cookson said.
Bowlers came from Commercial Albury, SS&A Albury, North Albury, Lavington Panthers, Howlong, Walla Walla, Culcairn, Henty, Gundagai, Tumut and Tumbarumba to compete.
A sum of $100 raised during the tournament was donated to the Fred Hollows Foundation.
Achieving a total of 75 points, bowlers from the SS&A Club Albury - Jill Osteraas, Pam Fletcher, Marilyn Dando and Alice Graetz were major winners of the tournament.
Runners-up on 71 points were Lynn Bennett, Jenny Hourn, Ina Ford and Helen Pearce from Gundagai.
Nearest the president’s bowl was Topsy Gannon of North Albury, and resting touchers were won by D Fletcher (Howlong), Shirley Fuller (Holbrook), T Chalker (Commercial) and Enid Antone (North Albury).
The spider was won by Lois Terry of Culcairn, Lyn Michelson (North Albury), Marge Bye (Tumut) and Ina Ford (Gundagai).
