Excitement reached fever pitch when young gun footballer Josh Hamilton, 17, heard the news Tuesday night.

He has been selected in the under 18s Murray Bushrangers squad to play in the 2008 TAC Cup competition.

Josh will join other elite young footballers at the Murray Bushrangers camp in Melbourne this weekend.

The Year 12 student at St Paul’s College Walla Walla will proudly wear the navy blue guernsey with yellow, navy blue shorts and navy blue and yellow socks.

After surviving the first cut in February, he has waited in hope, nervously, for the final cut.

At 197cm and weighing 92kg Josh played ruck for Lavington in 2007

“Josh has worked very hard to achieve this success, it’s been his dream,” Josh’s mother lois said this week “You have to be dedicated to sprint around the oval in 40 degrees heat.”

Josh’s mother Lois said this week.

He has worked in isolation following both the Rams and Murray Bushrangers fitness programs over the Christmas holidays and New Year.
