A Chieftain aircraft (XLB) owned by Fly Australia has recently flown from Sydney to Merimbula and then to Corowa with a precious cargo. It became part of the team for Angel Flight, returning a child to her family after hospitalisation in Sydney.
The plane is in Henty for three days, undergoing intensive maintenance, after which it will return to work in Sydney where it is working with another company developing a service which will cover Cootamundra, Temora and Young.
The owner of the plane, Rosalind Cumming of Henty, is pleased it could be used for such a good cause. She donates her personal aircraft for life saving missions with Angel Flight, making sure that Australian children in our country towns receive the treatment they require for a myriad of serious illnesses or urgent surgery.
Charter Pilot Grant Hilder (pictured) donates his services at the request of Rosalind to ensure that they can assist many of those families in our country communities.
Rosalind has a continued interest in the community and a passion for aviation and is seeing some positive results in the wider communities. She recently purchased the Piper Chieftain nine-seat all weather aircraft which is capable of landing day or night on most country strips, whether they are dirt, grass or sealed. It has an impeccable safety record and is cost effective to operate.
