OSBORNE AND HENTY INTO SIX
Osborne and Henty have both re entered the Hume FL top six with resounding victories that has set up a mouth watering round 12 clash between both sides this Saturday at Osborne.
The Cats continued the demise of early season pace setters Murray Magpies with a thumping 66 point win at Bunton Park, while Henty boosted its hopes and percentage with a huge win at Walla.
Osborne has jumped to fifth place, while Henty have slipped into sixth position. RW Tigers who lost narrowly to Jindera have slipped back to seventh. Magpies have sunk to eighth.
Murray Magpies after going into the interleague bye in 4th place, have lost not only four places on the ladder but a huge percentage loss going from 161 after round nine to a current percentage of 118.
In the same time Henty have climbed two places on the ladder and gained a healthy 27 percent. Osborne are the big movers having now won four in a row after losing four of its first seven matches.
The battle for fifth and sixth place will be an intriguing battle with all four teams in the mix - Osborne, Henty, Tigers and Magpies all level on seven wins and four losses.
Matt Gleeson with five goals is relishing his new found role in the goal square, while Coach Corey Munson was electrifying with four goals and Luke Maloney three.
The top end of the ladder will be just as competitive and engrossing with the top four teams all having genuine prospects to grab the double chance, afforded to the top two teams only.
Howlong and Culcairn are both on ten wins each, while Jindera with easily the best percentage in the competition lurking just one game behind and ready to pounce.
All three teams play each other in the run home with Howlong having the advantage of home matches against both Culcairn and Jindera. All three teams will also have to play the improving Osborne.
Howlong were far from impressive against a very youthful and undermanned Holbrook team who were missing Martin Semmler, Aaron Baker, Tim Nichols and Al Vigar.
It was only the strength of leading goal kicker Aaron Barnes that gained the Spiders the advantage, with Barnes reclaiming his lead on the goal kicking table with six.
Holbrook debuted thirds players in Sam Joyce and Clayton Bosman, taking its tally of thirds players to play seniors this year to six, in a positive and welcome change of direction.
RW Tigers put in a very impressive performance against Jindera, despite going down in a tight encounter. The Bulldogs at home finished stronger in the final term to run out 20 point winners.
The Tigers led by David Farrell, Dean McCall and Gerard Telford fought back superbly in the third term after trailing by 25 points at half time to reduce the gap to just seven points.
Jindera lost star midfielder Kade Duel early in the match, while reliable defender Jamie Barlow looks set to miss a month with an ankle injury.
Grant Gardiner (7) and Ben Taylor (5) goals led the Swampies to a resounding 111 point win over Walla. Assistant Coach Andrew Wilson gathered almost fifty possessions in a best on ground performance.
Walla played its best football in the first quarter, before the fitness and class of Henty came to the fore. Dylan Hore Smith and Jack McCallum continued their excellent form.
The home side could only manager one goal after quarter time after a promising start. Captain Tim Webb and Kyle Churches were terrific for Walla against huge odds.
Culcairn gained some badly needed percentage when they traveled to CDHBU, winning by 130 points after a relatively even first half. Shannon Gilson roaming forward kicked six goals.
Coach Luke Donan did his Azzi Medal chances no harm by dominating across half forward and kicking five goals. Ben Schulz and fellow on baller Scott Shelley were in everything.
An inaccurate Lockhart created its own problems in their 17 point win over Coleambally, with its twelve more scoring shots indicating a bigger win was wasted somewhat.
Jeremy Alexander, Dan Smallwood and Rhys McIntee were outstanding, while veterans Brett Hewitt and Brad Pearse ensured the Demons covered the constant pressure from the gallant Blues.
BB Saints proved far too strong for the Billabong Crows winning by 118 points, with Greg Tallent and Paul Glanville dominating up forward with four goals apiece.
