 LIGHTS GO OUT FOR POWER

LIGHTS GO OUT FOR POWER

14 May, 2008 07:25 AM
Culcairn brought the might of the ex Coreen league down with a huge thud, by handing out a comprehensive 115 point thrashing to CDHBU at Culcairn.

In a meeting of last years two premiership sides from the Hume and Coreen leagues, the match up proved a non event with the Lions shell shocking the Power and vindicating the huge gap between the sides.

The Lions forward line led by Luke Donan (7) and Andrew Robertson (6) goals tore the Power backline apart after a relatively even first term, where the inaccurate Lions only led by four points.

Culcairn really upped the intensity after that and with seven, seven and nine goals respectively for each of the remaining quarters put their stamp on the game in no uncertain terms.

It was without doubt their best performance for the season so far and with new recruits Trent Logue, Leigh Baker and D J Oates on fire in perfect conditions the Power were like rabbits in a spotlight.

CDHBU who have had a very kind draw up till last week found the step up in class a huge task and could not cope with the Lions greater fitness base and failed to run out the match.

Doug Lavis up forward was handy with four goals, while Wes Amour, Jarrod Hanrahan and Jamie Hicks battled along manfully against overwhelming odds.

The Power are on the start of a horror draw with games against all the top Hume sides awaiting them, with the next two weeks seeing matches against Osborne and Jindera.
