Jindera have won the right to defend its premiership from last year, when they sensationally defeated Culcairn in the last two seconds of a gripping preliminary final at Walbundrie.
Utility defender Michael Blomley swooped on a loose ball to drill home the match winning goal and avoid what would have been the second dose of extra time in this year’s finals series.
The Bulldogs prevailed 13 - 11 - 89 too the Lions 12 - 11 - 83, to set up a replay of last years grand final, when they broke a 33 year drought to defeat Osborne.
Culcairn had held a 15 point margin at the last change but with the scoring end favoring Jindera, they were always going to face a battle to hang on and advance to the grand final.
The Lions refused to surrender easily and forced the Bulldogs to work right to the very end. Jindera took into time on to hit the lead and when they went seven points up they looked home.
Culcairn however conjured up a goal to Nathan Stroh and a point to Andrew Robertson to draw level with two minutes left, before the last gasp Blomley goal sealed their fate for 2009.
James Barlee and Nic Stubbs were great four quarter contributors for Jindera. Mark Hilton played a vital role for Jindera floating between backline and forward line.
Trent Logue and Graeme Fruean were sensational for Culcairn in defence, repelling attack after attack in the final term, while Ben Schulz, Brent Barber and Robertson were superb.
