HOLBROOK DOMINATE LOCAL DERBY
Holbrook have already taken first innings points in the local derby against Holbrook Colts and will press hard this week for outright points that would be a huge boost to its finals chances.
Led by some superb bowling from youngsters Hayden Webb 5/31 off thirteen over’s and Mitch Williams 2/5 off nine, they blasted the Colts out for 71 after the Colts had won the toss and batted.
From a promising and stubborn start the Colts fell away from 1/33 to lose its last nine wickets for thirty eight runs, with the Holbrook bowling and fielding razor sharp.
Opener Simon Montague with a gritty (31) and skipper James D Ross (17) made double figures as Webb captured his first division one five wicket haul.
In reply Holbrook led by in form opening bat Seumas McKillop (66no), Nigel McMahon (22) and Robbie Mackinlay (17no) raced along to 2/113 at stumps.
Kevin Drum opened up with a fiery ten over spell that saw him take one wicket, while leg spinner Ben Jones opened the bowling in an interesting ploy by the Colts and took a wicket.
The remaining two matches will commence this week, with Henty and TRYC playing each other over Saturday and Sunday, while Osborne and Culcairn will play at Culcairn in a fifty over’s match.
Following this round the association will go into a harvest/Xmas break, with the one day final on Jan 9th being the first game back in the New Year.
UNDER 14 REP SIDE WINS AGAIN
Holbrook DCA under 14 representative side has recorded its second successive victory in the Murray Cricket Council Tony Scammell Shield.
Holbrook after defeating Tumbarumba last month easily accounted for new City in Albury last Sunday bowling the home side out for just 40.
In reply Holbrook cruised to victory racing along to 3/82 to stay on top of the ladder. All the bowlers were successful with Dylan Hore and Jeremy Finlayson bowling tidy early spells.
Hamish Casey and Jimmy Mackinlay claimed two wickets each, while Nick Perryman and Luke Carman finished off in good fashion.
Hore completed a good double making (28 ret) with the bat, while Perryman (24 ret) and Matt Klemke (15 no) ensured the middle order got the runs with little concerns.
The final round this Sunday will see Holbrook DCA play Brockelsby DCA at Culcairn, while Tumbarumba will play new City at Holbrook to equalize traveling.
Following the final round the Murray Country side will be chosen to play Cricket Albury Wodonga under 14’s in trial match that will see the Murray Cricket Council team chosen.
The Murray side will then compete in the NAB Riverina Cup carnival in hay from January 2nd to 4th. The Riverina side to play in the statewide Kookaburra Cup will be chosen from this carnival.
