Holbrook Colts have batted themselves into a strong position following the first day’s play of the top of the table clash with Henty at Paech Oval in Henty.
Colts after being some what surprisingly sent into bat by Henty skipper Grant Forrest obliged with its highest score of the season reaching 6/283 off its sixty overs.
It was an even contribution from the Colts batsmen, with Jim Grills (79) and Dylan Fairall (350 putting on an opening stand of eighty eight.
The middle order capped off the great start with Robbie Mackinlay (75no), Josh Jones (34) and Brett Strong (34) finishing the innings off strongly.
Paddy Murray with 2/25 was very impressive off his seven overs, while Brad Hore had no luck with both Grills and Mackinlay benefiting from spilt catches off his bowling.
Jimmy Ellis as usual toiled manfully in a twenty three overs spell, while Forrest claimed 2/91 in a spell of seventeen overs.
BUNN BLASTS
BRILLIANT TON
Stand in TRYC captain Jeremy Bunn blasted a superb century against Holbrook, to put his team in a strong position to win its first game of the season.
Bunn belted four sixes in his innings of (116). His total was well over half his side’s final tally of 205. Holbrook in reply at stumps was 0/1.
Holbrook skipper Alex Ross won the toss and asked the visitors to bat on a wicket that offered the new ball bowlers a small amount of side ways movement.
Col Hagen with (25) added great support to Bunn as the bottom placed TRYC batted around Bunn to post a solid total.
Ben McKenna 3/34, Jack Nunn 3/19 and Ross 2/25 got amongst the wickets for Holbrook. The home side desperately need to win next week to keep fourth place from Osborne.
OSBORNE SET CULCAIRN BIG TOTAL
Osborne who need to win its final two matches to play finals this season, has kept its hopes well and truly alive by posting a good score against Culcairn at Culcairn.
They successfully batted out its allotted sixty overs to post a very respectable tally of 6/225, with inform skipper Darren Howard making (68).
Osborne needs to win this match against Culcairn and then defeat Holbrook at Osborne in the final match to claim a finals birth.
Culcairn themselves has plenty to play for with a win and another against Holbrook Colts likely to see them finish on top or at worse second going into finals.
Andrew Madden with (42) and the consistent Leigh Schneider (29) gave Howard excellent support. Steven Brand will post the biggest threat to Osborne when play resumes this Saturday.
