HENTY BATS DOMINATE OSBORNE
Ladder leaders and firm premiership favourites Henty produced another dominating batting display on Saturday, when they put the Osborne attack to the sword.
The Swampies despite being with out leading run scorer Grant Forest, still piled on the runs with wicket keeper batsman Grant Gardiner finishing with an unlucky (99).
Gardiner, who has been in terrific form all season, was caught behind attempting to guide a single for his century. Greg Schuller with (52) and Gardiner put on a century stand.
Openers Mark White (44) and Ben Klemke (29) got the score going early despite the wonderful efforts of the Osborne opening attack of Sam Terlich and Jeremy Bahr.
Terlich finished with 6/130 off twenty six overs, while Bahr was just as Herculean bowling twenty four overs for 0/110. Nic Gleeson chipped in with two wickets. Osborne will bat this week.
MAIDEN CENTURY FOR JOLLIFFE
A gritty maiden century by TRYC teenager Brad Jolliffe has rescued his side from collapse in the crucial round nine match at Yerong Creek against Holbrook.
The name Jolliffe is well known in local cricket circles with Greg (father of Brad) and Keith (uncle) both being prolific scorers in the HDCA, but Saturday was Brads turn to shine.
The right hander batted for almost four hours and hit 14 boundaries in his innings of 102, he survived a drop catch when on ninety eight in the slips, before bringing up a well deserved ton.
TRYC who won the toss and batted struggled against a much disciplined Holbrook bowling line up, with Mitch Williams bowling two splendid spells to finish with 4/46.
Jolliffe was involved in two healthy stands that rescued TRYC both times, the first with his father Greg (45) for the third wicket and a stubborn ninety two run stand with Ben Willis (24).
The Brookers fielding was outstanding on the lightning quick outfield and went a long way to restricting the home team to 201 all out.
Young spinners Hayden Wishart 2/31 and Andrew Mackinlay 2/36 bowled with good control, while Jason Weaven 2/23 and Hayden Webb kept things tight.
CULCAIRN TAKES POINTS OVER COLTS
Culcairn have taken first innings points already over Holbrook Colts in a low scoring day at Holbrook. Culcairn will be looking towards some batting practice next week.
Winning the toss and batting Holbrook again struggled in the middle order, with only left handed opener Matt Fairall causing the tight Lions attack any problems.
Fairall returned to form with (42), but could only find minor support from Troy Henry (14) as the Colts were bowled out just prior to tea.
Brad Ravenna led a solid bowling attack taking four wickets, while Steve Brand, Travis King and Jarrod Frohling all claimed two wickets apiece.
In reply Culcairn lost three wickets prior to stumps with Brand (19), fellow opener Vince Chaffey (19) and Paul McFayden (17) the wickets to fall as they posted 3/97.
Sam Joyce was the pick of the Colts bowlers and claimed the wicket of Brand. Left armers Kevin Drum and Will Heriot claimed the other two wickets.
