Henty have taken the upper hand against Culcairn after the first day of the HDCA match of the round at Culcairn with leg spinner Shannon Terlich the star for Henty.

The tall leg spinner wrecked the Lions middle and lower order claiming the impressive figures of 5/36 to put the Swampies in control.

The Lions were dismissed in the 53rd over for only 138 and in reply Henty are solid at 1/24 with all next week to run down the Culcairn score. Brad Ravenna and Steven Brand top scored for the Lions with both making (27), while Ricky Yensch compiled a handy (23) late in the innings.

Henty skipper Al Edis survived a sharp chance at slip late in the day and he along with Grant Gardiner and Grant Forest will hold the key to the Swampies run chase next week.

The other game between Holbrook at home to Osborne was washed out due to the wet turf wicket and ground at Holbrook and will now be a forty over per side match next Saturday.

JACKSON PUNISHES COLTS COSTLY MISS

Holbrook Colts were made to pay for a costly first ball dropped catch to star TRYC all rounder Chris Jackson in the opening day of the Holbrook and District Cricket Association.

Jackson who starred in last seasons grand final win over Culcairn, was dropped first ball and went on to make the Colts attack pay big time with a punishing knock of (91) in the home teams run purge.

The Colts were making their first appearance in almost two decades in first grade and had a tough day at the office, with TRYC pursuing outright points.

TRYC declared at 7/251 and have the Colts in trouble at stumps at 4/36 after facing fifteen overs. The inexperienced side will have a huge task ahead of them next week to save wickets. Todd Hannam (50) and Jeremy Bunn (28) got the home side away to a good start adding sixty three in just ten overs. Greg Jolliffe added (24) in the middle order.

Spin bowler Ben Jones bowled superbly for the Colts claiming 3/16 off six overs, while Sam Joyce impressed in his first grade debut, taking a respectable 1/41 off ten overs.
