Urana’s Young Citizen of the Year 2012

08 Feb, 2012 07:36 AM
Mr Alex Brooks was awarded the Urana Shire Young Citizen of the Year at the Australia Day celebrations in Morundah.

Alex is well known in the area for his contribution to the Billabong Crows Football and Netball Club.

He is currently the “Auskick” coach for the club, something which he has strived to qualify for by attending workshops and coaching clinics across the Riverina.

Alex progressed through the junior ranks of umpiring and was last year asked to become a boundary umpire for the Hume League.

In his nominations form Alex was credited to being “always available, volunteering his time in various tasks around the club as, a goal umpire, scoring for junior games, helping admin staff, trainers, coaches and if and when required runner for both senior and reserves games.

“Master Alex Brooks is a highly motivated young man, courteous, well mannered, generous and willing to help others at the drop of a hat.”

There was one other nominee for this award, Ms Frances Robson, a year 12 student at Urana Central School.

She was nominated by the Urana Central School P & C association for being a hardworking and self motivated student who presents herself as a leader and a role model around the school.
