Townlife funding for Burrumbuttock

08 Jan, 2003 12:42 PM
The Country Labor Candidate for Albury, Mr Mathews has announced that as part of the State Governments initiative in the Townlife Development Program financial assistance will be available to help the Burrumbuttock community to develop a strategy that will ensure the continuation of a vibrant and prosperous community.

Mr Mathews said that the Minister for Regional Development, Mr Woods has announced that Burrumbuttock was successful under the fifth round of the program which provides assistance for economic development activities for communities with a population of under 2,500 people.

"The submissions from the Burrumbuttock community greatly impressed me as this program is all about encouraging enthusiasm and pride in the community. It will give the Burrumbuttock Residents Association an opportunity to identify projects to stimulate new economic activity in the Burrumbuttock area," Mr Woods said.

Mr Mathews said that Country Labor initiatives such as Townlife show the Carr Governments commitment to the smaller regional communities of NSW.

"It's a partnership between the NSW Government and the community that is essential to the viability of regional towns in New South Wales," Mr Mathews said.
