 Reclassification for Yerong Creek Road

Reclassification for Yerong Creek Road

22 Feb, 2012 07:58 AM
At the Lockhart Shire Council meeting on December 15, 2011 Council requested a report be provided on the current classification of Finlayson Road, Yerong Creek subsequent to a complaint by local residents regarding its recent grading.

The northern section of Finlayson Road running from the Yerong Creek main street parallel to the railway line was previously classified as a Gravel Class 2 Road.

Under the current classification it appears that there is no longer a reason for the road to be classified this way beyond the Council’s treatment plant as the road does not provide residential access and is not a through road although it does provided access to the public land to the north.

Council said that little money had been spent on this section of the road, but the road north of the Council treatment plant on Finlayson Road will be re-classified as an ‘earth formation road’ further reducing costs in the long-term.

At the Lockhart Shire Council meeting on Monday, February 20, the recommendation was moved.
