There could soon be a greater availability of In Home childcare places in the Greater Hume Shire.
Child care providers can apply to deliver more occasional and in home care places after an announcement from the Early Childhood and Child Care minister Kate Ellis announced 1500 additional places recently.
Greater Hume Children’s services will be submitting an application for additional places under this new program.
Deanne Burr, In Home Care coordinator for Greater Hume Children’s Services said, “In home care places are limited but currently available.
“Greater Hume Children’s Services encourages anyone in the community who believes they are eligible and wishes to you In Home Care to contact our office as a matter of urgency.
“We are required to submit details of the current demands and this would further our chances of being successful,” Ms Burr added.
An extra 1500 childcare places means a 35 percent increase to occasional care and a 17 percent market increase across the In Home care sector.
Ms Ellis explained that “The Australian Government understands that centre based care may not be suitable for all Australian families, and that some families may require more flexible care arrangements.
“We believe in giving parents choice when it comes to childcare, which is why we support a range of options from long day care and family day care to flexible centre or home based care.”
Greater Hume Children’s Services are also seeking applicants from those interested in becoming educators as the demand for carers is anticipated to increase.
