Doctor calls Holbrook home

After working in one of the world’s oldest eye hospitals in Madras for four years, Dr Arunachalam Lakshmanan life was irrevocably changed, when he emigrated from India to Australia to practice medicine.

On Australia Day, Dr Lakshmanan was honoured to receive the Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division for service to medicine and the community of Holbrook and through a range of philanthropic activities.

Born in a small village of 300 in India, Dr Lakshmanan’s recognition by the Australian Government and the Holbrook community has been a monumental achievement.
