The Rock Showgirl for 2011, Emma Angel, became a State Finalist in the Zone Seven finals in West Wyalong over the weekend.
This achievement will see her go to the Sydney Royal Easter Show on April 14 to compete with the 15 to 18 other finalists from across NSW.
Ms Angel who is now 21 grew up in The Rock and has a strong family history with The Rock Show with her parents and grandparents also being heavily involved.
At university Ms Angel has just completed a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a major in Public Relations.
Show girl coordinator and former show girl, Megan Coyle said, “She (Emma) is passionate about the area and deserves this experience.
“I have still got some life long friends from when I went to Sydney representing The Rock as show girl,” she added.
The selection criteria at the zone finals included an interview and lunch with the judges in the morning and an impromptu on stage interview in the evening.
The contestants at each stage are judged on their personality, confidence, ambition and life goals, general knowledge, rural knowledge, presentation and speech.
Ms Angel will spend a week in Sydney mostly at the show but also visiting places like Parliament House and the Royal Children’s Hospital as an ambassador for rural NSW.
