10 Mar 10 | Farmers came out to see a torrent of water come bursting down the dry bed of the Billabong Creek on Sunday. Flowing past the Hume Highway bridge, water spread out over the creek banks onto the flood plain and filled the lagoon.
Racism in the Riverina?
03 Mar 10 | Has racism reared its head with three simple words, ‘sink boat people’ attached to a large road sign welcoming tourists to the Riverina? Using printed letters in red, the offender pasted the message on the NSW tourist information sign located on the Olympic Highway between Henty and Yerong Creek.

TWO DEAD
20 Jan 10 | Two men are dead and their families traumatised following a head-on crash by two trucks on the Hume Highway south of Holbrook. Police have identified the deceased in the north bound truck as Brett Fitzgerald, aged 37 years of Hoppers Crossing, Victoria.
Medals on Display
16 Dec 09 | Commander Norman Holbrook’s Victoria Cross and medals were unveiled at the Australian War Memorial on Friday. His medals were made available, on loan from the Greater Hume Shire Council on behalf of the community of Holbrook, NSW.
Next stop Holbrook
09 Dec 09 | Greater Hume Shire Council will make the vital decision to appoint a preferred developer to construct a service centre on the highway bypass at Holbrook by early 2010. The service centre is viewed by Greater Hume Shire Council as a key strategy in bolstering economic development and employment in the town, offsetting the negative impact of Holbrook being bypassed in 2012.

He is one of just 18 outstanding primary producers from across Australia who was named a winner of Australia’s most prestigious agricultural scholarship for 2010.

They were Lutherans who left Prussia in the 1840s, migrating to South Australia in a wave of souls seeking religious freedom without interference from the state. In early October 2009, Evan Klemke and his family celebrated 125 years of farming at Hillview, Alma Park.
